Reading Eggs is helping to read.

"I like Reading Eggs. I like the pet ant on it.  I learn my letters on it."

Tuesday, 28 August 2018

I am learning to identify capital letters, full stops, exclamation marks and question marks.

"The word 'Mo' was easy in this book.  I know what a question mark and full stop looks like.  I am still learning to see capital letters. Mrs Wyatt and my Mum helps me with my reading."

I am learning to know different parts of a sentence.

"I point to the letters, and look at the pictures.  My Mum and Mrs Wyatt helps me to read."

I am learning that the illustrations can help me read the story.

"I like the rocket."

"I am putting the letters together, in the right place.  Summer and Ahmad helped me do it."

Recognising Sight Words

We are learning to recognise the magenta sight words.

In Reading nga tamariki have been making great progress pointing to each word and using the pictures to help them read a sentence.  Each week we have a new "word of the week" and students do their best to identify that word in their book.

"I am reading my book", said Inglis.

I am learning that illustrations help me read the story

In Reading we have been learning that the illustrations help us to read the story.  If I am unsure of a word I can look at the picture and it can help me.

"I was reading", said Inglis.
