Cinquain poem

WALT write a cinquain poem
As part of our writing, we learned about the cinquain poem. It's a 5-line poem with nouns, verbs, adjectives and a sentence. Because we are focusing on the sea creatures as part of our inquiry - sustainability and conservation - we drew the picture of the shark, as our poem was on them.

I am learning to sound out vowels as the middle sounds, and write silly sentences.

"Writing Silly Sentences are easy for me because I copy Mrs Wyatt's when she writes it at the end, when everyone has finished."

I am learning to write my idea in a sentence that makes sense.

"I am very good at finger spaces and I am very good at full stops.  It is hard to write 'went'.  It is easy to write 'to'.  My Dad, Mum and Mrs Wyatt helps me to do my writing."

Descriptive Words

We are learning to add interesting language to our story.

In Story Writing we have been brainstorming adjectives (describing words) and trying to use them in our stories to make our work sound more exciting.  Guy Fawkes gave us the opportunity to practise some of these words:

"The fireworks are fun", said Inglis.

I am learning to write a sentence

In Writing I have been learning how to write a sentence.  First I draw my picture and write the date.  Then I take my work to Mrs Tetupu and I tell her what my picture is.  She writes the sentence and then I go and copy underneath.  My final step is to write my name.

"I can write the date", said Inglis.
